  ABOUT THE CLUB

Douglas United Football Club has a number of different levels for players, aimed at providing a progressive pathway to excel in football from the age of 3 years.

Squirts - The most basic entry level for 3-5 year old children. Providing a fun 'play & learn' environment, with one hour per week of activities designed to assist young ones with balance, co-ordination and concentration.

Small Sided Games - This level of football is designed as an introduction to the sport with ‘age appropriate’ football rules for 6–8 year old girls & boys. Non-competitive, non-contact with progressively sized fields and competition rules as the child grows with the game.

Rooball Games - This level of football is for players aged 9 & 10 years old. Field size is larger and rules are introduced, including a goal circle and goal keeper.

Competitive Juniors 11 – 16 years - The introduction of formal rules and regulations create more of a challenge for older children. A larger field size and more players allow players skills and tactics to win the competition.

Youth: 16/17 year old players who also get the opportunity to bench as reserves for both the Reserve & Premier team sides

Ladies: from the age of 15+ compete against other women’s teams in the district. A great way to keep fit & maintain & improve skills learned at Junior Club level.

Reserve & Premiers: Men’s division from 18 years with some highly skilled local, national & international players competing.

Other Activities at the Club:

  • Six-a-Side - A round robin series played for keeping players fit in the off-season & to maintain the social activities of the club
  • Football Anytime - A Telstra sponsored coaching series for children 5 to 12 years of age; DUFC runs this program annually during the January school holidays
  • ROAR Active - A Football Australia initiative introduced to after school active programs designed to promote fitness through playing of soccer; local coaches mentor these programs
